Laura and her husband, Jon live in Magnolia, Texas and have two children, Justin and Brandon and a daughter-in-law, Amy. Both boys and Amy graduated from Texas Tech University and are now living and working in the Fort Worth/Dallas area. Justin and Amy got married in November 2022 while Brandon graduated with his master's degree in December 2023. 

 

Laura met Jon while they were students at the University of New Orleans in 1992. Laura graduated from UNO in the spring of 1995 in Accounting, while Jon graduated in Civil Engineering later that year. Soon after graduation, Laura and Jon got married on March 2, 1996. Laura worked as a corporate accountant until the birth of her first son, Justin in May 1997. Jon then got a job in Texas and moved the family to Houston, which has been home base for the Shoemaker family for over 25 years now. 

 

Laura and her family had several opportunities to reside overseas, where she became acquainted with many diverse people and cultures. Despite her many adventures and accomplishments, Laura battled with her identity for many years. She knew there was more to life than what she was experiencing, but she didn't know how to obtain it. It wasn’t until God touched Laura’s life at the age of 31 that she began to be transformed and see herself in the light of God's truth and what He had to say about her. Laura now has the wisdom and passion to help others discover their own inner beauty in Jesus Christ.

Laura has been committed to studying and abiding in God's word since 2005 through the ministry of Bible Study Fellowship along with other Biblical-centered ministries and Christian churches. She was BSF group leader for four years in the Houston, TX area and again a BSF group leader for two years when she moved overseas to Singapore. She has facilitated many other Bible studies and has written 2 books and a Bible study, which she now leads in her community.

Laura's dream biography

To reinvest in the lives of others the greatest talent given to her—God’s Word. She would want to share God’s truths with people who desire to know who they are in Jesus Christ. It is the truth that renews minds and sets people free and it is the love of God that reconciles a heart and empowers a person to overcome the world and the shortcomings of self.

To deliver the truth and love of Jesus Christ. She will help you identify the lies in your soul so you are empowered to replace those lies with the truth. She promises to share and anoint you with the same truth that God used to set her free. As she greatly depends on the presence of God through prayer, she promises to provide a safe, intimate environment where your spirit and soul can connect with God. She promises to connect with you as she listens well and as you share in God’s Word TOGETHER.
